Had a couple of sessions in the first week of the new year but only one small grayling to show. I tried for pike on a stretch of the river Ure I rarely fish but nothing seemed interested in my deadbaits. I did have some company though
and in spite of the cold weather it is always a priviledge to be out in these beautiful surroundings
I caught the grayling from the Nidd on the shrimp pattern mentioned in the previous post but the fierce downstream wind meant I couldn't toss my flies upstream as I would have liked so I gave it up and decided to wait for more clement weather which will hopefully arrive next week. Trout and pike will be the targets and maybe another double figure river fish
